Meals & Food Service

The food at The Camp Wenonah Centre for Outdoor Education is second to none!

Under the direction of Executive Chef Cody Rector and our food services team, three healthy homestyle meals and snacks are prepared each day. Each meal is made onsite with the freshest of ingredients. Our food service staff provide an amazing array of desserts, breads, pastries and more!

Meals are served buffet style in the Boyes Lodge.

Executive Chef Cody Rector

Cody Rector has a strong passion for cooking and wants to make sure that everyone leaves Camp happy!

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of Canada, Cody is currently continuing his education at the University of British Columbia (UBC), studying Food & Nutritional Science. Cody comes to us highly decorated, having won the UBC Centennial Leader Scholarship and the Holland College Presidents Award. Having travelled coast to coast to cook from Cedar Creek Estate Winery in BC to Terre Rouge Craft Kitchen in PEI, Cody wanted experiences to continually challenge and push him in his pursuit of greatness. Cody has also spent a season working at a Summer Camp in the role of Sous Chef.

That desire and drive to be the best is exemplified in Cody’s masterful menus and the positive working environments that he creates. When he wasn’t busy in the kitchen, Cody found time to serve as the President for the Junior Chefs Association of PEI and was instrumental in Co-Chairing a Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser. Cody is highly organized, loves sports and appreciates a perfect “Mise en Place” (everything in its place) approach.

Cody is a big fan of jigsaw puzzles, skateboarding (although still perfecting the kick flip), various card games and all sports that involve a racquet! Cody couldn’t be happier to join the Wenonah family!

Nut Policy

The Camp Wenonah Centre for Outdoor Education is a “nut aware” site and ‘nut free’ in practice. Each year we welcome many students, summer campers, and staff members with life threatening nut allergies. In no way can we compromise their personal safety during their stay at Camp, so our menus are created with this in mind. No nut, or nut products are served at Camp at any time.

Special Diets

We are pleased to provide alternative meals for those who require special diets or have food allergies. If any food allergies are life-threatening and may require extensive modifications or supplements, we do allow for food to be sent with participants to be prepared by our Food Service staff.

Groups should let us know of any dietary restriction among group members in advance of their visit.

Birthdays at Camp

We are delighted to provide a cake if a student is celebrating a birthday while at Camp. We ask that trip organizers notify our office of any birthdays that may occur during your visit so our food servie team is aware and has plenty of time to prepare this special treat.
